One of my favorite movies is "When Harry Met Sally". It's an old movie but any given week you can surf the channels and find it on TV. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan star in this romantic comedy about relationships. There are many themes in this movie to blog about but one has remained a source of teasing and conversation in our family of 3 females and 1 dad. Are you high maintenance or low maintenance? Or...are you the worst kind, high maintenance but think your low maintenance. Now my family would say that I am option # 3. The primary reason is that "on the side" is a very big deal with me. 'Waiter, I'll take the salad but with dressing on the side... I'll have the baked potato with the butter and sour cream on the side. You get the idea.
Yet, I have always concluded that I am low maintenance. See what you think.
1) I am not a purse person..I buy my purses at target or jc penney and I do not change according to what I am wearing.
2) I am not a shoe person. I own no more than 10 pairs of shoes and I wear them until the heels grind down.
3) I wear makeup but I only have one shade of blush and one shade of eye shadow and I rarely wear mascara (kills my contacts!)
4) I have a low maintenance hair style with no streaks, highlights or lowlights only a little gray.
5) I do not have fake nails, I used to but I hated taking the time to get them refilled. However, I do love pedicures!
6) I drive a 2003 toyota corolla and I took the insurance money and went on vacation instead of having the dents popped out from last spring's hail storm.
Okay, so I do like my Starbucks grande decaf latte with enough room for real whipping cream but only one tablespoon and if you don't have real whipping cream just the canned stuff then nothing, but leave me some room for half & half I'll pour it in for myself!
Now I say that makes me low maintenance. Not that being high maintenance is bad but I guess my values tell me I should be low maintenance. I want simplicity. I want abundance in the most important aspects of life..people rather than things.
We do have fun in my family when a "high maintenance" moment occurs. That brings me to a funny blog about this subject. You need to read the article from Divine Caroline about High Maintenance. I was cracking up at the list of possible ways you would know if you were high maintenance...Here are a few.
You might be high maintenance if..."your purse holds more than 5 lbs of "essentials" or "if your makeup case is a double decker toolbox from Sears!"
Would love to hear about your assessment of yourself and please give examples!!! Low or High..it is fun to laugh at ourselves and our little quirks! Have fun reading Divine Caroline!
And Happy Saturday!
Abundance is..."a double mocha latte with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles."
