Living the faith when it is 70 degrees outside, the sun is shining and there is very little breeze.
What is harder?
Living the faith with there is a sunless sky, pouring rain, or frigid temperatures.
What is easy?
Living the faith when all you encounter is praise and encouragment from co-workers and friends.
What is harder?
Living the faith when you are criticized, ignored, experience indifference or are surrounded by pessimism.
What is easy?
Living the faith when your health is vibrant, you are strong and have energy.
What is harder?
Living the faith when your health is in jeopardy, when you are ill, tired or weak.
It is easy to share faith, worship, and embrace abundant life when Life is Good!
It is harder to acknowledge that abundant life when challenges present themselves.
We often proclaim that we are faithful people. When are we faithful people?
A friend shared with me...
...."the opposite of faith is not doubt; rather the opposite of faith is certainty..."
(from an Episcopal priest in NYC and quoted in the book The Faith Club)
I want to experience faith in the midst of uncertainty.
I want to experience abundant life in the midst of uncertainty.
I want to be certain that "Life is Good" in the midst of uncertainty.
I will "Live the Faith" in ALL days...and Live it Abundantly!!
Thanks for stopping by - and thank you for the ideas. My family has provided me with several ideas within the last day and half - so I'm good for now, but I like some of your ideas and will definitely be back!
ReplyDeleteAlso - I noticed you are a speech pathologist...do you work with kids or adults?
Aaaahhhhh Faith, we are thinking the same. Don't you love Jim Roth's quote about faith?
ReplyDelete...."the opposite of faith is not doubt; rather the opposite of faith is certainty..."
ReplyDeleteI have never heard that quote before.
I recently went one of the "harder" times that really tested my faith. Thankfully, God is good. And even though I didn't think so at the time, "This too shall pass".
Great post!
Lovely post!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this reminder!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteHere, here!
ReplyDeleteThis is totally off-task, but your comment about "Go O Me!" was the funniest thing I've heard in a few days ... and it came at a good time because I've been nursing a sinus infection the past few days, so it felt really nice to laugh. :-)
Wonderful wonderful post! When the chips are down many of us feel alone, "abandoned"...but it's so far from true. Life is full of lessons. Our attitude plays a big role in faith. Thank you for stopping by...I will be back often!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming back and answering my question, I appreciate it. I have another for you, you know, since you're an expert and all :-) And really, if you don't want to answer me, I'll understand!
ReplyDeleteMy son will turn 2 on the 26th. He barely says four words. When I try to get him to copy what I say, his "words" sound NOTHING like what I'm trying to get him to say. Is this normal at age two? He has his 2-yr appt in Oct, but I thought I'd ask now :-)
Thanks for coming by my blog...and for all the kind words! "Living the faith" can be hard when things aren't going right, but we always come back to that, don't we? I've always believed that the opposite of faith is fear. I guess this idea that the opposite is "certainty" is an interesting one I'll have to roll around for a bit.
ReplyDeleteAll our trials are for but a small moment. "Living the faith" gets easier in our hearts the longer we do it!
I'd lost you for a bit there ... I sent emails to 'noreply; cuz I'm real smart like that.
ReplyDeleteSo, here I am and I have (smartly enough) favorited you finally! I had difficulty finding your blog via your profile...I don't know why.
Anywho, THANK YOU FOR THE AWARD (LATE!)
LOVE YOUR RECENT POSTS! I caught myself up, but have to go write a (lengthy) letter to a beloved 1st grade teacher, so I have to get going!
GLAD I FOUND YOU AGAIN!
Beautiful--
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I really like this post. We should all print it out and keep it where we can read it on a daily basis. Thank you for these beautiful words.
ReplyDeleteI love "life is good." My brother is always sending me there stuff. It is a good philosophy to live by. Things can always be worse.
