We Interrupt This Life......

You know the ropes..every week on the radio.."this is a test, this is only a test from the emergency broadcast system, we will use this signal in the event of a major emergency."

Well, last week my husband of 26 years had a test...only a test. And then, it was the real thing. A biopsy. And now..we interrupt this abundant life to bring you ...Cancer.
Fortunately it is early found, contained and a resolvable problem. A major surgery but according to our doctor he can get it out and it's a done deal. That is what we hope. That is what we are expecting!
What I want to say is that my M is okay. He has been a pastor for 30 years and his response to the news was this...okay..so now I must "practice what I preach". Soooo as Mrs. Pastor I will too! I will live my faith in uncertainty and trust. Enough said..

I of course knew I would be blogging about this and Mr. M. Pastor said okay. So with the levity that it takes I want to share with you something that happened in the doctor's waiting room on the day we went to find out about the treatment!

First, I took my camera! Yikes, "new blogger alert". Mr. Pastor grinned so it was okay. First I took this:

TOO MUCH INFORMATION, NOT COOL!!

DON'T WANT TO EMBARRASS MR. PASTOR!

Okay, this is better, way cooler, more subtle, a real bloggers photo!

This is P., a very special man who is also our friend. He was with Mr. Pastor during the biopsy, taking care of him in a very tough situation. (He works in this practice) He is also the spouse of my good friend. The rest of the story is that a few months ago, my friend posted about P. He sees this work as a mission. You must read the post from Verbal One. P let me take this picture and immediately asked me if it was going on the web!! I said, "unless you tell me not to." He didn't so here is our big thank you for our friend and very capable professional.

Then there was this!!!

No lie! This was the newspaper looking up at me from the waiting room magazine table. I saw it and my camera just had to come out!!! My sentiments exactly!!! CANCER!!! What a CROCK!!

We will get through this with faith, the love and support of friends and with humor I hope!

Abundance is....having friends to hold your hand when you get an owie!

  11. Was thinking about what a crock it is to have M diagnosed with this. I always feel very sad with this kind of news, but I am so very happy that M kept on top of it and lead us to a place where we can take care of it. I often think of special people as lights and M is a very bright light for a lot of people. Good wishes and blessings to you both.

  14. Coach,

I didn't know your sweetie is a pastor. It doesn't matter, but you know I get to pigeonhole you now...'the pastor's wife.' Yup. There you go inside a box. Don't try sticking your foot outside it.

But wait! I JUST LOVE THAT YOU ARE A HARDCORE BLOGGER --- Look at you looking at everything through the eyes of a blogpost. You made me smile outloud when moments before I had gasped. But the breath came out - and it was healing. And you, my dear, and your sweet pastor-honey have all my prayers.

May God Bless and Use you, singing like birds in the rain,
    ~k

  16. Hi. I'm new to your site, after finding you through Peg's Middle Age Ramblings. I noticed that you're 47.... I turn 47 this month. I'm a little behind you in the bearing fruit department though! My daughter is 12.

I'm so sorry to hear about the crock you're having to deal with. I loved your humor, but for me, worry still creeps in - even with faith. That's something I'm still trying to master! Giving up the worry and just being.

Take care! I'm looking forward to a longer visit on your site when all my papers have been graded.

  22. how great that you took your camera. blogging is kind of a journey, and capturing the dialogue in digitally is part of the experience that makes recording memoir and life experience so rich. having said that, I have said a prayer for you and your husband and your daughters.
