Photo Story Friday

PhotoStory Friday

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

A few weeks ago I noticed "Photostory Friday". Since I am new to blogging I have had to get the hang of carrying my camera around with me and keeping my mind open to the idea of capturing experiences as they happen. Since I do not have little ones hanging around and I had at first thought that "nothing interesting ever happens to me anymore". I had a few pity parties over not being a cool stay at home mom with the world by the tail and her kids around her knees. ( I missed it!)

However, it happened this week at work. My first "Photo Friday" opportunity! In our busy clinic where children and parents come in and out of our doors the latest virus, cold or germ is likely to hang around. Since the kids get it and their parents get it, many of the therapists get it too. Those who have 5 years or less experience seem to get it first and add points if you have 5 years or less AND you have children under 5! I do not want to assume I am safe with 20+ years on me!

This week we had snot balls blowing out noses on the carpet, sweet wet fingers grabbing our faces, soaked diapers sitting in seats, and an endless faucet of drainage dripping down noses. So I was ready...camera ready!!! Not to capture the faces and noses but to show you the kind of preparation it takes to be a really good, capable, competent and totally blase' about snot speech therapist....I was armed and ready for a great week of therapy!!!!

Abundance is...a sweet wet open mouthed bunch of sugars on a day when snot isn't flowing.

  1. FABULOUS PSF!!!

YOu are a braver person than I am...I can handle my kids' snot. And even my sister's kids' snot. But not anyone else's kids' snot. At least not very well. :)

  3. You are a pilgrim in an unholy land. I admire you for facing snot balls every day. I can barely stand to wipe my own nose.

  5. Funny. We have the same theory in our school about germs. It takes 2 years to get used to the germs on a campus. It got better with the introduction of hand santizers, only we aren't allowed to have personal containers of sanitizer handy anymore. There are wall mounted sanitizer dispensers (like hand soap) in the restrooms and in the classrooms.

Anyway, I left a comment on Octamom's blog today about our little one's experience getting help with a possible speech delay. Maybe you could check it out.

Take care and thanks for sharing.

  23. Great job on your first PSF! You don't need to have little kids at your ankles to tell a story with a picture. The stories are all around us.
Good luck continuing to tackle snot balls this cold and flu season!

  24. Snot is tough to take when it is from your own kids, but surrounded by it at work? Yikes! Glad you were prepared:)

  27. You just started and your blog looks like this?! Gorgeous header-- and great idea for a PSF. You may not have little ones running around holding onto your legs anymore, but what you may be considering a boring read, I come out looking to read, you know, for a moment of sanity.
    Welcome to the blogosphere--

  28. germs...I am affectionately known as the germ lady at the ele school. for the past three years I have taught hand hygiene there. I am mostly a full time mom, pto president with a school health degree. I wondered why we did not teach our little ones proper hand washing, how NOT to sneeze into their hands, etc. so now the kids call me germ lady or GL for short. I could totally relate to your post!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hahaha! You are a very prepared girl! Great PSF!

  34. Good shot, and good story!
avt coach...take it from a stay-at-home mom who has little ones around her knees...I long for the day when I can wander aimlessly, by myself, taking pictures of things other than my children. That may sound horrible, but it's just honest. I know I'll miss these days when they're gone, but I think the 'cool crowd' thing is a farce.

You seem like an amazing lady.
Love your blog, love your words.

May God bless you and your precious husband during this stressful time. May He carry you and give you the strength you need, and the peace that surpasses all understanding.
