This may age me but I love Mamma Mia..the movie. I did not "love" Abba in my early years but the story and music of Mamma Mia was impressive. It's a feel good movie. I have seen it three times. Everyone is having fun and letting go when they dance around and sing those great songs. (Not my personality exactly.)My favorite scene is the song "Dancing Queen". Now I have never "loved" this one either but what I did like was that when they heard the song and saw the action, women from the entire village joined the party. Young and old were on that pier dancing their hearts out and enjoying life.

Okay, this is what blogging is like for me. My blogging mentors Octamom and Verbal One have been doing this a while and they are good at it. I have enjoyed creating my site and deciding what posts I would write. It started only a few weeks ago as a way to express myself, never really thinking that many would read it. Then, I began to read the blogs of women who read Octamom which lead me to many many other blogs, mostly of women with multiples or mom's who home school their children. I love reading their amazing posts! At first, I began to feel awkward. I am a bit older, my children are now early 20s and I work in a fulltime position serving children with hearing loss. I thought maybe I was intruding on a world of comraderie and familiarity.
Of course, Octamom encouraged me...so I kept posting and kept reading. And...I began commenting. Some of these women even read my posts. Then I got a nice comment from a mom who had the same career path. I realized that we all have something to learn from each other and although I am not carrying a child on each hip or organizing school schedules, I can contibute to this blogging world and hopefully add some encouragment.
Stay with me here...there is a point!
Now, I am putting this all together. Mamma Mia means "Mother Mine" and we are all women of worth. In our own little corners we may have days we feel we have little of it, but the support and affirmation the women who blog receive is truly a gift. We are out there dancing on the pier together and enjoying our lives. Kudos to the "Dancing Queens" that I have read about, those that I have the pleasure of working with, and those that I serve in my job. You are all amazing women and it is a pleasure to blog and work with you!
See my "Blogs I read" in the right column to see how awesome some of these "Dancing Queens" are. I know there are many more. Maybe you could suggest some of your favorite "Dancing Queens" in your comments. I will certainly visit!

What a great post and such an encouragement. I think as moms, we all have days where we need extra encouragment and blogging definitely has been helpful to me as a new mom.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great gift idea.
What an awesome post indeed. My eyes have actually welled up a bit. That happens often with this blogging thing and it's not even the 1st time today. Kinda funny. Or maybe I am a dork :) You're right, the support & affirmation we get when just one or two people even read our words and comment, FEELS wonderful. Like making a new friend, just a little different, but the connection is still there. I read blogs of all types, each has something different to offer. If I limited myself to moms only, and with one child like me, who worked full time outside the home, I would be missing out on a world of interesting, funny, smart women who simply make me smile each day. Have an awesome day!!!!! And thanks for making me smile today. I am looking forward to seeing Mama Mia.
ReplyDelete"Dancing Queen" was on the the "banned song list" at my wedding! (Sorry...the song just drives me nuts, but I actually do want to see the musical and/or movie eventually if that redeems me or something!)
ReplyDeleteI've only been blogging for a month and I can't believe how
1) fun it is
2) how addictive it is
3) how rewarding and encouraging it is.
I feel like I'm 10 again and have pen pals - except I don't have to wait weeks for a response!
Great post! I loved it.
Excellent post! Blogging has been a wonderful connection for me and I am so thankful for the advice and kind words that people share with me. It is truly a gift from above. I love the dancing queen concept, I need to see that movie.
ReplyDeleteWow, you said it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI had never even read a blog until January. I started one thinking it would be a nice way to keep my family and friends up to date on the kids. I could never have imagined the impact it would have on my life. I have friends I have never met. I have support for the stage of life I am in. I have prayer, encouragement, laughter, tears and a fabulous creative outlet.
Yay for blogging!
Just what I needed to "hear" today! Wendy - I am so thankful you blog because now I don't have to wait for those occasional visits to receive those wonderful nuggets of wisdom from someone I respect and admire GREATLY. You are the best...and don't think I have forgotten my wonderful award you have so kindly bestowed on me...I have been giving some great thought as to who to pass it down to...
