Previously I wrote about a new discovery, "Goddess Leonie", her thoughts remind me of what I thought about when I was younger. She has a list she calls "10 ways to fly beyond creative dream frustration and fear". I read through her list and was intrigued by one exercise, here it is:"Imagine you have long, silky grey hair, whispy, in a braid. In your eyes, there sparkles a kind of wisdom, joy and compassion that can only be found after eighty years on this dear planet. Imagine this precious part of your self, remembering you as you were, smiling gently, sending you love back across the distance. Let this graceful, gorgeous Grand-Mother guide your hand, and write you a letter of all the things you need to know & remember."
Very thought provoking. First my gentle and loving grandmother comes to mind. Her death was very difficult for me. Other mature "saints" in my life come to mind also: Bea, Levada, Ermal.... all strong women who continued growing in their later years. They were certainly a model for me as to how I want to grow old.
Okay, so I will try this little exercise.
"Older and wiser woman of AVT, what words do you have for me now?"
- Look kindly on your efforts in raising your children, you did your best, gave them your best and loved them your best.
- Be a listener...seek first to understand. It is in the understanding that you can best be a light to others.
- Don't take things personally. Everyone responds from their own filter.
- Give up a little more control than you do now. Let others find their own way.
- Share encouragement daily. Everyone needs to hear a good word.
- Choose your words carefully. Words matter.
- Everyday, expect to be inspired!
- Read more....talk less.
- Laugh with and enjoy your children, what ever their age.
- Look kindly on your parents, they did their best, gave you their best and loved you their best.
You are welcome to try this! When you do, link my site to yours and leave a comment so I can read your list from your older self!
