"Even doggies like to listen to books!"My Word-ful today is about a series of children's books that I love by Emma Chichester Clark. Emma was the co-author and illustrator of "James and the Giant Peach." These books are about a preschool girl named Lily and her baby brother. Lily has a special stuffed pet "Blue Kangaroo". Lily's pet is both a friend and a scapegoat to her behaviors and she learns some lessons along the way. The story lines are wonderful with many opportunites to enrich vocabulary and language. In addition, the illustrations are full of pictures to address Wh-questions, prepositions, and pronouns. They also help to ellicit higher level thinking and problem solving. These stories are a keeper. There is even a small stuffed blue kangaroo available with a board book . There are several other in the series besides those listed here. Happy Reading!!! I know you will love them!
